It's always around 5 Mbps even when a poor signal shoots my download speed to ~1Mbps. One thing I'm confused about is why my upload speed doesn't seem to be affected by my distance to router. When I go stand next to the router I get 40+Mbps (I think we pay for 60 Mbps).

my girlfriend's 2010 macbook pro in the same far-away location gets full wifi bars and I only get two-her DL speed here upstairs was 8 Mbps and mine was 1.5 Mbps. I also think it's a hardware issue as my wifi antenna seems pretty weak, e.g. I'm feeling embarrassed, as I am pretty sure this is just a symptom of being far away from my router (this is what happens when you overthink things!). Type: Portable System: Dell product: Inspiron 3531 v: A03 serial: V: 7.4.0 Desktop: Cinnamon 4.2.3 Distro: Linux Mint 19.2 Tina on-ubuntu/ as they didn't really seem relevant but maybe I'm wrong? All but the last three solutions listed here. DL speed on phone: 20.1 Mbps Download/ 5.43 Mbps Upload.ġ. DL speed on LAPTOP: 1.41 Mbps Download/ 5.00 Mbps Upload. Model = Dell Inspiron 3531, no ethernet port. No disconnect and reconnect issues so far on linux. I recently migrated from windows where I didn't have problems with DL speed although on windows it would often disconnect and reconnect which makes me think hardware. This is a bummer as I really like linux mint otherwise. Today I realized my download speeds were slow on my laptop but much faster on my phone. My card is recognized it's just that the DL speed is super slow. I looked at this post: viewtopic.php?t=272234 with the same wifi card as me but their problem was different. Unless you need Windows 7 for some programs and such.Hello all, I've been googling and tried a few different solutions but no fix yet. Just stick with Windows 8, and get start8. (lost game connections sucks, especially with good in game scores in BF3)įor your other post on downgrading to windows 7.

but it could as well be driver issues on the laptop. but I suspect that it's the new firmware for the Airport Express.

I don't know if it's the new 7260 that does it or if it's the latest update on my Airport Express (wifi router). The laptops wifi stops internet connection sporadically.

so hopefully Intel won't botch the drivers again as they did for the 6235 cards on some users, but it worked fine for me, when I had it (put it in my parents ancient laptop). it might have some Driver issues at the start but it is basically brand new after all. If you are not in a hurry to buy the latest AC cards.īut I personally recommend the Intel 7260 AC since it has better signal than the stock Wi-fi card. Yeah the 1202 sounds like a winner since it has awesome reviews and speeds and the advertised prioritising for games. So I won't be testing out the new AC wireless until Christmas or some crap since I gotta buy Battlefield 4 too. Yes I have upgraded my Wireless card with Intel 7260 AC this friday.īut S**T happened and now I gotta buy new In-ears instead of the new ASUS RT-AC56U which sadly costs the same x)
